Reading the Malayalam you paste
- This pair
- Malayalam uses many Sanskrit words that Hindi readers recognise, but Malayalam verbs do not change for "I", "you" or "he", so the Hindi adds the person from context.
- Script
- Malayalam script, written left to right, with rounded letters and many joined (conjunct) letters.
- Numbers
- Malayalam digits exist, but 0–9 is standard.
- Mixed text
- Manglish — Malayalam typed in Roman script, and English words in speech.
- Names
- Many names include a family house name (Thekkekara Joseph).
What you get in Hindi
- Saying "you"
- Hindi has three ways of saying "you": aap (respectful), tum (familiar) and tu (very close or rude). The translation follows the tone of what you paste.
- Sentence order
- Malayalam and Hindi both put the verb at the end, so most sentences keep their shape; idioms still need rewording.
- Script
- Devanagari, written left to right, with a line along the top of each word and no capital letters.
- Who reads it
- Hindi is spoken across North and Central India.
Example
You paste (Malayalam):
രക്ഷിതാക്കളുടെ യോഗം ശനിയാഴ്ച രാവിലെ 10 മണിക്ക് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും. ദയവായി റിപ്പോർട്ട് കാർഡ് കൊണ്ടുവരിക.
You read (Hindi):
अभिभावकों की बैठक शनिवार को सुबह 10 बजे होगी। कृपया रिपोर्ट कार्ड साथ लाएँ।
