How Hindi looks on the page

    This pair
Many English words are used in everyday Hindi (meeting, bill, form); the translation keeps the common ones and writes them in Devanagari (मीटिंग), as Hindi readers expect.
    Script
Devanagari, written left to right, with a line along the top of each word and no capital letters.
    Numbers
Devanagari digits (१, २, ३) exist, but most printed and typed Hindi uses 0–9.
    Names
In Hindi text, Indian names and places keep their Hindi form; English loan words are often written in Devanagari (मीटिंग for meeting).

    Writing to Hindi readers

    Saying "you"
Hindi has three ways of saying "you": aap (respectful), tum (familiar) and tu (very close or rude). Check the tone when you write to an elder, a client or an officer.
    Sentence order
English puts the verb after the subject and Hindi puts the verb at the end, so sentences are rebuilt, not swapped word for word.
    Mixed words
Hinglish — English words inside Hindi sentences ("meeting cancel ho gayi"), often typed in Roman script on phones.
    Who reads it
Hindi is spoken across North and Central India.

    Example

    You paste (English):

Your electricity bill of 1,240 rupees is due on 15 November. Pay online to avoid a late fee.

    You read (Hindi):

    आपका 1,240 रुपये का बिजली बिल 15 नवंबर को देय है। लेट फीस से बचने के लिए ऑनलाइन भुगतान करें।

    Questions

Is the English to Hindi translator free?

    Yes — up to 5,000 characters, 5 times a day, no sign-up.

Are names, dates and amounts kept?

The translator keeps names and figures as they are, but machine translation can slip — check dates and amounts against the original before you send.

Which "you" will the Hindi use?

The one that fits the tone of what you paste — a respectful message stays respectful for a Hindi reader.

How much English can I paste?

Up to 5,000 characters at a time — about two pages of an email or a notice. For more, split it or sign up free to keep longer translations as notes.
