    3. Copy or download both as a TXT file

    From English speech

    Sentence order
German puts the verb second in a main clause, sends it to the end of a subordinate clause, and splits separable verbs (ruft … an), so sentences are rebuilt rather than swapped word for word.

    Reading it in German

    Script
Latin alphabet with umlauts (ä, ö, ü) and ß; every noun starts with a capital letter, and long compound nouns are common (Krankenversicherung, health insurance).
    Numbers
0–9 with a comma for decimals and a point between thousands (1.000,50).
    Saying "you"
German has du (familiar) and Sie (formal, always capitalised).
    Names
In German, umlauts in names are often written ae, oe, ue in English (Müller / Mueller).
    Everyday words
Business German uses many English words (Meeting, Deadline).
    Who reads it
German is spoken in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

    Example

    What was said (English):

The flight is delayed by two hours. We will now board at gate 12 at 9 pm.

    You read (German):

Der Flug hat zwei Stunden Verspätung. Wir boarden nun um 21 Uhr an Gate 12.

    Questions

Is translating English audio to German free?

Yes — clips up to 3 minutes and 25 MB, 3 times a day, no sign-up.

Will the German keep the speaker's tone?

It aims to — a respectful message should read as respectful to a German reader. Machine translation can slip, so check names and figures against the recording.

Do I get the English transcript too?

Yes — what was said in English first, then the German.
