Reading the Tamil you paste
- This pair
- Tamil and Telugu are both Dravidian languages, but Telugu has taken in many more Sanskrit words, and its rounded script is closer to Kannada than to Tamil.
- Script
- Tamil script, written left to right, with fewer letters than most Indian scripts — one letter can stand for several sounds.
- Numbers
- Tamil digits exist, but are rare; 0–9 is used almost everywhere.
- Mixed text
- Tanglish — English words in Tamil speech, very common in offices and colleges.
- Names
- Names often carry an initial for the father's name (K. Ramesh) instead of a surname.
What you get in Telugu
- Saying "you"
- Telugu has meeru (respectful or plural) and nuvvu (familiar). The translation follows the tone of what you paste.
- Sentence order
- Tamil and Telugu both put the verb at the end, so most sentences keep their shape; idioms still need rewording.
- Script
- Telugu script, written left to right, with rounded letters.
- Who reads it
- Telugu is spoken in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Example
You paste (Tamil):
உங்களது மின் கட்டணம் 1,240 ரூபாய் 15 நவம்பர் அன்று செலுத்தப்பட வேண்டும். தாமதக் கட்டணத்தைத் தவிர்க்க ஆன்லைனில் செலுத்தவும்.
You read (Telugu):
మీ విద్యుత్ బిల్లు 1,240 రూపాయలు నవంబర్ 15 నాటికి చెల్లించాలి. ఆలస్య రుసుమును నివారించడానికి ఆన్లైన్లో చెల్లించండి.

Can I paste Tamil typed in Roman letters?
Yes. Tamil typed on a phone in Roman letters, or mixed with English, is translated as a whole into Telugu.
