How it works
- Choose the English voice note or clip — up to 3 minutes
- We write down what was said, then translate it into French — usually in under a minute
- Copy or download both as a TXT file
From English speech
- Sentence order
- English and French both put the verb after the subject, so most sentences keep their shape; idioms still need rewording.
Reading it in French
- Script
- Latin alphabet with accents (é, è, ç).
- Numbers
- 0–9 with a comma for decimals and a space between thousands (1 000,50).
- Saying "you"
- French has tu (familiar) and vous (formal or plural).
- Names
- In French, names can carry particles (de, du) and hyphens (Jean-Pierre).
- Everyday words
- French in North and West Africa often mixes with Arabic, Wolof or English.
- Who reads it
- French is spoken in France, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland and much of West and North Africa.

It aims to — a respectful message should read as respectful to a French reader. Machine translation can slip, so check names and figures against the recording.
