    Reading the Chinese you paste

    Script
Chinese characters — Simplified in mainland China and Singapore, Traditional in Taiwan and Hong Kong — with no spaces between words.
    Numbers
0–9 is common; Chinese numerals appear in formal writing.
    Mixed text
Mandarin speech in business borrows English words; Cantonese in Hong Kong mixes English heavily.
    Names
Family name comes first, usually one syllable (Wang Wei).

    From Chinese to English

    Politeness
Chinese has nǐ (familiar) and nín (respectful); English has a single "you", so the translation carries politeness with words like "please", "sir" or "ma'am".
    Sentence order
Chinese and English both put the verb after the subject, so most sentences keep their shape; idioms still need rewording.
    Where it comes from
Chinese is spoken in China, Taiwan, Singapore and by communities worldwide.

    Example

    You paste (Chinese):

    您的酒店预订已确认,入住两晚。下午2点开始办理入住。

    You read (English):

Your hotel reservation is confirmed for a two-night stay. Check-in starts at 2 PM.

Example made with our translator from a sample sentence. Machine translation can make mistakes — check names, dates and amounts.

    Questions

Is the Chinese to English translator free?

    Yes — up to 5,000 characters, 5 times a day, no sign-up.

Are names, dates and amounts kept?

The translator keeps names and figures as they are, but machine translation can slip — check dates and amounts against the original before you send.

Will a polite Chinese message stay polite in English?

It aims to: English has no separate polite "you", so the respect shows in the wording instead. Read it once before you send something important.

Can I paste Chinese typed in Roman letters?

Yes. Chinese typed on a phone in Roman letters, or mixed with English, is translated as a whole into English.
